“The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is now.” - Chinese Proverb

Have you ever complained about something that you were not able to do in the past? How do you feel after doing that? How many times have you told the same story to others? This is something that many of us go through, and I want you to know that it is completely normal not to have accomplished what we wanted at some point in our lives, given the circumstances back then, including how we thought or how we felt.

However, can you imagine going through your life without fulfilling your dreams, simply because of something that occurred a long time ago, or because of an old fear? That subconscious frustration can affect our levels of energy and thus every aspect of our lives, holding us back even from achieving other things that we want because of our tendency to use the past as a model to predict the future.

Thus, this amazing Chinese proverb invites us to ask ourselves, what am I doing about it today? Which steps am I taking towards achieving my dreams? Once you are aware of it, using the past as an excuse NOT to do what you want is not valid anymore. The only moment that we have is NOW, so, if you were not able to do what you wanted before, it is time to stand up and take that first step.

.

Is it writing a book? Write that first page of it! Is it living abroad? Start looking for jobs or opportunities somewhere else! Is it dating or having a partner? Start meeting people and going to social events! No matter what it is, the first step, which is said to be the hardest one, is the most rewarding one, because you break the mental seal that is keeping you attached to the past. Remember, it is outside of our comfort zones that we really start experiencing life to the fullest, so get down to it!
