How to deal with detractors?

“If people are doubting how far you can go, go so far that you can’t hear them anymore.” – Michele Ruiz

How many times were you told that you cannot do something, that it is crazy, or that your uncle John or one of your cousins attempted the same and failed? I am sure you have been in a similar situation. These people are everywhere, and we can choose to believe them and see them as prophets, really protecting you from that gloomy, scary and horrible thing that they call failure, or simply as challenges that life throws on your way to test whether you really want to fulfill your dreams. In the end, they are well-intentioned people that just want to protect you from what they fear, which is why they were not able to accomplish that or something else themselves. Do you think that they will be saying the same, once they see how far you have come? I really doubt it!

The reality is that many people around us focus on what is called objective attention, meaning, the obstacles in front of us, the facts, such as other people having failed, and in general the difficulties on the way to do what you really want. However, it is rather the people that focus on the subjective attention that really fulfill those deepest desires, meaning, seeing the opportunities where others see obstacles, trusting that one way or another you will get where you want to, and that life will open up all the doors and windows required for you to achieve your goals.

When you can embrace the emotions of your wish being fulfilled, when you can embody your success in the present instead of waiting to have what you want in your hands, life will team up with you instead of playing against you. Give yourself permission to be a dreamer, dream big, feel your success in the now, use that emotion to take action, do not listen to detractors, and let the rocket of your dreams take off! I assure you that naysayers' voices won’t be heard once you have set your feet on the moon, and if they are heard, it will be to congratulate you!
